Mrs. Harris and her husband Dave reside in Englewood. Sandy performed the duties of Treasurer for Northmont City Schools as set forth in the Ohio Revised Code from 1989 until she retired in 2015. For 27 years Sandy’s dedication and thoroughness to her duties were second to none. She spent countless hours with her department working to ensure accuracy. Sandy advocated for “classroom targeted” spending, in keeping with the district’s focus to financially support the students at Northmont. Sandy navigated the district through some of the most difficult times, especially in the early 1990s when the district experienced several failed levies. Created in 1995, Sandy was one of the original strategic plan committee members and remained on the committee throughout her years with the district. The number of hours she spent creating reports, reviewing documents, and serving the Board of Education far exceeded expectations. Her attention to detail, understanding of the role of the treasurer in the school setting, and support of the educational profession made her stand out among her colleagues. In 2015, Sandy received the Distinguished Service Award for the Southwest Region. The Distinguished Service Awards program is a series of five regional awards, recognizing one individual from each region. Recipients of these awards are recognized for significant contributions to the public good. Of the five award recipients, an overall winner is chosen to receive the Virginia Ramsey Service Award. Sandy also received this award, and as a result of receiving both awards, Northmont was the recipient of $1500 to fund a scholarship for a graduating Northmont senior which Sandy was more excited about than actually winning the awards. Sandy valued the students of Northmont.
